ok so now i'm even more confused, I don't use WMP, I use Winamp and MPC-HC. Upon further testing, the MP3 stuttering occurs in Winamp, but NOT WMP! But the Windows system (startup, shutdown, notifications) sounds are still garbled. I know this may not seem like a big deal but I'm just wondering what kinds of sound resources WinAmp and Windows system accesses, vs WMP where sounds play choppy in the former but not the latter, and if there is any configuration change I could make somewhere to have all my audo, regardless of playback software, play smoothly.
