Management Agents on ESX

Hi all,

There are couple of things that I am not sure about and would like to study/know more about it

1. What is management agent on ESX? I know how to restart it but what exactly what it holds / what components

1. When is it good to restart management on the host. What are the scenarios when we should restart the agent.

Is there a link / pdf that I can read about it
