K now i understood that i can't access local attached datastores of another host. Thanks for that so what i did was last i searched very hard and i found one link given by some one in vmware forum http://boerlowie.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/building-the-ultimate-vsphere-lab-part-10-storage/
In this links he just installed iscsi software target on vCetner (wind2k8) it self and made it as iscsi storage. So in my setup also i have 2 esxi hosts, one win2k8r2 as vCenter. So i added only one target and added the same on both esxi hosts unlike he created 2 separate targets for each hosts. From many days i was thinking to build one freenas/openfiler software iscsi target and add it to esxi hosts. If i do it i have to add one more vm for open filer my current configuration as below:
My Laptop (lenovo thinkpad e430, i5-3210, 6GB RAM)
VMware Workstations setup
2 esxi hosts 2GB RAM each
1 win2k8r2 1GB RAM
So my entire setup utilizes 5GB RAM i had 500GB Hard drive with around 200GB free after creating VMS. Now if i create one more vm my resources could be not enough, is 512 RAM ok for openfiler, because i have to get knowledge on opensource storage management system like openfiler.
My doubt is in my office i implemented NAS (NFS) on centOS 6.3 with 2TB Harddrive, which one is much better iscsi with open filer and nfs.
This is the one doubt i have never been clarified better. Could you tell me advantages of openfiler iscsi over nfs. If by chance openfiler is crashed, is there any chance to use the same hard drive on newly installed openfiler and the get the databack.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW MAIN ADVANTAGES OPENFILER ISCSI OVER NFS
