I am looking to build an ESXi 5.1 server (Using the free version) on some lower end hardware (by server standards), for my house, to consoladate two physical machines into a single machine, along with enough left over capcity to run another test machine, but I need to be able to suppor SCSI passthrough in order to access my eSATA dock on one of the virtual mahines in order to write backups.
I was sondering if anyone has tried ESXi on an ASUS F2A85-V PRO FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4), system board and can have confirmed that SCSI passthrough is supported? I have verified through the donwloadable manual on Asus's support site that there is an IOMMU enable option in its BIOS, but was hoping to get some confirmation if possible before I spend the money on one.
I intend to pair it with an AMD A10-5800K Trinity 3.8GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU, and 16Gb of RAM.
