Re: Fusion Causes Kernel Panic After Updating to Mac OS Mountain Lion 10.8.2

Resurrecting this thread because I have the same issue as well.

After digging around, it seems like the problem is with the automatic graphics switching module. When I forced the graphic to Intel HD thru gfxcardstatus, my MacBook Pro ran solid with VMware Fusion for days. Then, I decided to try out the other way by turning off automatic graphics switching option from System Preferences -> Energy Saver and forcing the Nvidia graphics. My MacBook Pro has been running solid for days. It's only when the graphics is at the dynamic mode (Turning on automatic graphics switching) that my MacBook Pro will crash randomly, sometimes even five times a day. It looks like the graphics is getting switched to Intel HD somehow while Fusion is running, since Fusion forces my graphics to switch to Nvidia. I don't know if it's the Apple's driver that's at fault, or Fusion's way of calling graphics API.

So, for now, as a workaround, try turning off automatic graphics switching or force your graphics to Intel HD via gfxcardstatus. I recommend the former route - I found that gfxcardstatus is notorious on switching back on to the dynamic mode.
