Okay, sounds like the VMware Tools Service is not running in the Windows 7 Virtual Machine. Check to see if it's started. You can reach Services in Windows a number of different ways. Right-Click Computer on the Start menu an select Manage then select Services and Applications then Services and scroll to VMware Tools Service. If it's not started then try starting it and if it fails, note why.
