I'm also not sure what kind of file you are trying to drag and drop, but I suggest to try with a simple small text file.

In the past there have been reports of people trying to drag and drop a file that was bigger as the size of free space available on their system %TEMP% folder and then it does not work. Although in that particular case I would expect to see an error reported by VMware, but things might have changed in regards to the error reporting.

I just tried creating that folder and rebooted the guest Win7.  The folder survived but I still can't DnD from Guest desktop to Host desktop.  And, yes, I'm just doing a simple text file.
