I did end up having to use an Administrative Command Prompt to get that to work. There was a second process for the user for a while. But then I was prompted to restart the VM and the second instance did not reappear on the restart.

Okay, I did install and run ProcessMonitor but I'm not sure I feel comfortable using it to make changes. It does show quite a few things with ...VMware, ...VMware, Inc.\Tools, ...VMware, Inc.\Tools\AppDataPath, etc.
