Out of curiosity, what is the guest OS you are running? You didn't specify in your post, and I don't know whether it was an oversight on your behalf or because it is not publicly available. 
Could you share the VM's configuration (.vmx) file? (Just attach it using the Browse... button when composing a reply, if that's OK.)
