My reason is slightly different in that I use it on a host which already has another device passed through. This means I cannot add or remove USB devices or anything while the VM is powered on. Hence the pass through USB controller.
Either way I do hope they will fix it but it just seems that they've designed it this way as it seems to automatically unselect the device. Ideally I'd like to know if they do plan to fix it if they havea rough timescale for it.
