I just upgraded to the latest version of VMWare Fusion 5.0.2
I have a Mac Mini 2.3 GHz quad core i7 machine with 16 Gigs of RAM
I am running Mac OSX 10.8.2
I also just upgraded my Windows from Windows XP Professional to Windows 8 Pro
When attempting to install the software (Cyberlink) and drivers for my new LG Blu-Ray Writer (model BE14NU40), I get an error message telling me that the software is ONLY for LG branded drives. This seemed strange since that's what I have. When I checked Device Manager in Windows 8 I saw that for some reason, VMWare changes the identity of the optical drive to an NEC for some reason....which prevents the software and drivers from loading.
Does anyone have any idea how to correct the altered identity of my optical drive in VMWare so that Windows 8 Pro will know that it really IS an LG drive?
