That is a problem and most likely at the root of the issue. Now we need to figure out why a second occurrence is not running.
In a Command Prompt try the following command and then see if there are two occurrences and if you can then DnD.
"C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\vmtoolsd.exe" -n vmusr
Note: If that doesn't work then try a Administrative Command Prompt.
I did end up having to use an Administrative Command Prompt to get that to work. There was a second process for the user for a while. But then I was prompted to restart the VM and the second instance did not reappear on the restart. Strangely, though, the desktop on the Guest was totally cleared off except for a folder for the user logged in & the Recycle Bin. I had the desktops mirrored in the Sharing preference and tried unchecking it but nothing reappeared.
Before I try the next suggestion above, I've got to take a timeout for Christmas breakfast with the family (it's 11AM here and everyone finally arrived). I really appreciate all the help considering we're in the middle of a holiday!
